Suite 101 Hitch-hiking Archive  (Perspective)

Suite 101 Hitch-hiking Archive

Late in 1996 I started to edit a column on hitch-hiking at Suite 101. I published a monthly article there until early 2003. A career of over six years producing a total of 82 articles that formed from all the evidence at hand, the mainstay of respected hitch-hiking literature on-line. In 2003 because of the arrival of a child my life turned upside down (in a very pleasant way). This deprived of the free time to continue my studies and adventures in this beloved field of mine.

I was one of the earliest editors on Suite 101, having been inspired by the vision they shared with me in the invitation they extended to me. They based that invitation I suspect upon the stories I had already begun to publish which have grown into a respectable on-line work themselves. Over the years I strived to set standards there, and watched them, in spite of an incredible community and some very professional and dedicated editors, decline and suffer the neglect of stretched managerial and development resources. Still, I soldiered on, and hold the community there in high regard to this day.

Over time I lost confidence, as many did, that Suite 101 would stay viable in the long term, and if they disappeared so too would my work there I fear. On account of which I have archived those articles here. Indeed since archiving these materieals here, my fears proved correct, Suite 101 no longer hosts them as far as I can tell ...
